How to stay motivated in summer’s heat
If you’re from Arizona like us, you know the struggle of trying to maintain your fitness goals during the hot summers. With high temperatures at it’s peak, keeping up with workouts can certainly seem overhwelming. Fortunately, we’ve got some tips to help you stay safe:
Hydrate the RIGHT way. Many of us tend to only drink water before and after workouts. The best way to prevent heat sickness symptoms is to slowly hydrate throughout the entire day, but especially when you’re training. Consider drinking sports drinks if your workout is longer than 60 minutes. Their high potassium and electrolyte content will help boost and replenish your body!
Split your workouts. Training for lesser time but more frequently throughout the week is a great way to push yourself without overheating.
Dress for success. During especially hot or humid days, switch to light, breathable athletic wear that will pull moisture way from your skin. Try to avoid heat trapping clothes to ensure you feel as cool as possible.
Eat snacks. But pick snacks with a high water content like fruit. The last thing you need in scorching heat are dry snacks like chips, popcorn, or energy bars that will parch your body even more.
Whether you’re going for a run, swimming, or lifting weights at Raise The Bar Training Studio, it’s important to take certain precautions to stay healthy during the hot summer!
